1. Frontrange Solutions releasing 7.0
Frontrange Solutions, creators of GoldMine and HEAT software are set to release the new GoldMine Standard and Corporate Edition Version 7.0 on August 1, 2005.

The new GoldMine Standard Version 7.0 will be limited to only 10 user licenses or fewer. GM Standard 7.0 will use a new underlying database called Firebird along with a new database engine called ADO.

GoldMine Corporate Edition 7.0 will still use Microsoft SQL as the underlying database but use the new MDAC/ADO database engine, replacing the old Borland Database Engine (BDE).

You are probably wondering: Should I go ahead and purchase and/or upgrade to version 7.0 right away? We recommend waiting 2-3 months after the release of a GoldMine version or upgrade before implementing it so that a software patch or two is available and the release has proven stable. That is particularly true in this case due to the major overhaul of the underlying database being used in the GoldMine Standard.

Frontrange has also announced that it is raising the price of the GoldMine Corporate Edition software for the first time since its release some 5+ years ago.

Effective August 1, 2005, GoldMine Corporate Edition licenses will increase from $495 per license to $595 per license (a $100 per license increase).

The annual maintenance fee per Corporate Edition license will also increase August 1, 2005 from $99/license to $119/license, or 20% of the retail license price. This new $119/license pricing will also be the new annual renewal fee per license for existing owners of GoldMine Corporate Edition when they renew their annual maintenance.
